The name Hessentia comes from the Latin word “essentia”, the synthesis of the complexity that determines value and uniqueness.

Our history

HESSENTIA is the contemporary brand of Cornelio Cappellini, an Italian family company founded in the 1950s in Brianza, a district near Milan famous throughout the world for its excellence in furniture production.

The company owes its name to the founder Mr. Cornelio Cappellini. At the beginning of the new millennium, the management of the company is entrusted to the second generation where the sons and daughter of the founder continue to play actively leading roles in business management following the creative and commercial leaderships.

Although it began its journey with the production of classic-style furniture, HESSENTIA became famous on the major international markets at the beginning of the new millennium with the launch in 2010 of the luxury “haute couture of interiors” collection, whose distinctive features were pearlescent lacquers, sophisticated natural leathers and fabrics, and precious Murano glass and pottery elements.

The company reached another turning point in 2018, when it began a major stylistic evolution towards contemporary design products and collections, culminating in the rebranding and introduction of the new HESSENTIA logo.

2020 marks the moving of the company's activities to the new headquarters of Carate Brianza, near Milan: on an area of more than 16,000 square meters it was built a building of about 9,000 square meters used for production departments, offices and showroom.

The new building, the true heart of all company activities, is a modern factory designed to guarantee maximum energy savings and low consumption of non-renewable resources. It is equipped with a photovoltaic system that ensures almost total energy autonomy.

All production machinery and building management equipment are state-of-the-art, equipped with inverters and all the latest technologies to ensure maximum environmental sustainability and minimum energy consumption.

Hessentia's team

With the birth of the new collection Hessentia, a new team has been created within the company with the goal of training designers that are able to project exhibition spaces at customers’ showrooms in a better way and that are able to collaborate with the customers in designing luxurious villas and apartments too. The new team soon extended its activity participating in the creation of new products and in the research of new materials that are used to realize them. The suggestions that come from the outside world are turned into unique products thanks to the techniques and production secrets of the great artisans working in the company.

The multidisciplinary team of architects and interior designers continuously invests in research, experimenting with new technologies and materials with the specific aim of furnishing exclusive spaces. HESSENTIA's contemporary collections are positioned in the premium market segment and are designed to satisfy the desires of customers for modern and sophisticated living areas.

Milan, City of Design

From 2017 to 2023, the HESSENTIA brand began to forge links with the city of Milan and to experience the world of design on a daily basis through a small showroom of about 80 square metres in Via Borgospesso.

During Milan Design Week 2023, the first HESSENTIA Flagship Store was inaugurated, covering approximately 300 square metres at 19 Via Monte di Pietà, centrally located between the Fashion District and the Brera district.

Sense and sensibility

“HESSENTIA” philosophy of living is an idea capable of going beyond the standard concept, beyond the redundancy of shapes and proportions. Each piece adapts to unique ambiences inside wonderful villas or apartments of great elegance:it is customizable in every aspect, shape, colour, material and in this way becomes part of the space in which it is placed. At the end of the creative process of each new piece we are able to find the perfect balance between reason and feeling. We let ourselves be carried away by dreams and by the passion that has always accompanied us, without forgetting the reason before starting production of a new piece.

 

Handmade in Italy

The demand for ‘Made In Italy’ products from an increasing number of foreign countries reinforces day by day the importance and the conviction to continue to produce each piece in Italy. The high level of craftsmanship by skilled artisan hands is enclosed in each product and allows to overcome the concept of standard product.

 

Art and living

When we think about a new product we like to be free without limits and the creativity must always have the opportunity to manifest itself without conditioning. Art penetrates and merges into many pieces. Every production department is like an artistic branch where the artisan, like an artist, knows how to shape each piece thanks to an extraordinary know-how passed down from generation to generation.
