Cascade is a chandelier composed of a sequence of handmade artistic glass cylinders. The vertical repetition of the elements creates a luminous presence in which glass takes centre stage.

Each cylinder is blown by master glassmakers in the Venice area: the process connects the chandelier to an Italian craft tradition passed down through generations and still used today to create contemporary elements.

While the glass is still partially molten, glass fragments are applied to the surface by hand. This second stage adds texture to the transparent volume and changes its perception.

The gritt create a more intricate surface that interacts with light and enhances the handcraftsmanship of the glass. The regular cylindrical shape thus meets a less uniform, more vibrant texture.

The sequence of elements highlights the relationship between light and material: each cylinder contributes to the whole while preserving the visible character of the handcrafted glass.

Cascade brings the Venetian glass tradition to HESSENTIA’s contemporary lighting, making glassblowing and the application of glass granules the chandelier’s principal means of expression.
