Enigma is a contemporary desk with generous, rounded shapes, built from overlapping volumes in a deliberately unconventional balance. Inspired by the deconstructivist architecture of the late 1980s, the design translates its geometric tension into a functional piece for the workspace.
The composition appears to challenge the traditional interpretation of a desk. Surfaces and volumes meet along different directions, creating a dynamic structure in which each element retains its own identity while contributing to a unified design.
The desktop is covered in saddle leather and shaped to follow the base. The visual and tactile softness of the material complements the rounded geometry, introducing a working surface that integrates seamlessly into the structure.
Two drawers are incorporated into the volume so that they are almost invisible from the outside. Storage thus remains concealed within the composition, preserving the clean outline and allowing form and surface to define the first impression of the product.
The structure is clad in wood marquetry, with an irregular alternation of white and black tones. The colour contrast creates a graphic rhythm across the piece of furniture, enhancing the complexity of the overlapping volumes.
The Matrix finish is available in natural or glossy versions. The different ways in which the surface responds to light change the character of the marquetry: more tactile and restrained in the natural finish, more intense and reflective in the glossy version.
Finally, the gold-toned metal element highlights the consistent attention to detail that characterises HESSENTIA philosophy.
Enigma interprets the designer desk as a meeting of geometry, marquetry, saddle leather and functionality. A landscape of overlapping volumes brings the rigour of the working surface into a deliberately unexpected composition.
