Nexum is a modular bookcase designed as an open, customisable system that adapts to the dimensions and architecture of the ambience. Metal uprights define the vertical structure and can be fixed to either the wall or the ceiling.

Configurable lengths and heights allow different compositions to be created, making the bookcase a design element integrated into the space. Nexum can extend along a wall or form more open configurations, in which the structure appears to rise vertically towards the ceiling.

The shelves are made of concrete, whose textured surface introduces weight and depth within the linear lightness of the metal uprights, contrasting slender structure with more substantial horizontal elements. The simplicity of concrete enhances the shelves through an authentic material character, in which imperfections, tonal variations and texture become integral to the aesthetic. Alternatively, the shelves are available in lacquered finishes in different colours.

Lacquered storage modules can be added to the open configuration, with flap doors or double-opening doors. Shelves and enclosed volumes can thus alternate according to the functional requirements of the design, changing the rhythm and storage capacity of the bookcase.

The combination of concrete and lacquered parts further broadens the compositional possibilities. Colour and material can be balanced in different ways, from simpler configurations to arrangements in which the storage units become graphic elements within the structure.

Nexum interprets HESSENTIA’s exploration of the contemporary bookcase through metal, concrete and lacquered volumes, transforming modularity and material into a flexible system that adapts to the space and the needs of everyday living.
