Bookcase
Greffage is a contemporary bookcase composed of the combination of slender wooden elements with rounded corners and thicker parts. The design arises from this unconventional intersection concept, directly reflected in the name Greffage, the French word for “interlocking”.
Viewed from different angles, the bookcase appears to change its configuration: vertical and horizontal elements visually overlap, while solid volumes and openings alternate in relation to one another, creating new geometries.
In this version, solid ash is the main material in the composition. Grain, the continuity of the fibres and subtle colour variations remain visible on the surface, highlighting the natural character of the wood.
Metal elements pass through the structure, introducing a sharper contrast with the solid wood. Their presence gives the structure visual lightness, creates reflections and highlights the connections between the different parts of the bookcase.
The relationship between solid ash and metal enhances the interlocking design concept. The natural material of the wood meets the greater visual precision of metal, while thicknesses, directions and openings create a rhythm that changes with the viewing angle.
Greffage interprets HESSENTIA’s exploration of the contemporary bookcase through interlocking shapes, solid ash and metal, transforming structure and material into a dynamic composition in which solid volumes, open spaces and connections continuously engage with the surrounding space.
